Allen Granzberg a Sophomore in Davenport College (the best college of course!) and the captain of the Yale Ballroom Dance Team. Allen hopes to improve the overall standing of the team and work with members from all levels in improving the team. Allen’s favorite dance is by far the Brazilian Samba (Caroline is a champion of the dance, ask her if you want to take lessons), but also really enjoys the Viennese Waltz as well as the Cha-Cha. If you have ANY (and that means ANY!) ideas for the team, please contact him and he will try to make them happen! Outside of Ballroom, Allen is interested in Business and Law. He also is in love with Law and Order: SVU.

Caroline Chang is an English major in Morse and the one thing she likes better than dancing just might be helping other dancers improve. After a year as Co-Newbie Captain, she is thrilled to serve as Vice Captain and work to make this year cohesive and fun for the whole team. She's probably more of a Latin girl than a Standard girl, but she's been known to enjoy all four categories. Caroline joined the ballroom team because she loved the movie Dirty Dancing Havana Nights, but she has stayed because she has found joy and a great family of dancers. Last year she would have picked Jive as her favorite dance, but now she must admit her affinity for Brazilian Samba and free-form Paso Doble.

Katherine Xie is the Business manager of the team. Katherine is majoring in Drama studies with a concentration in Canadian folklore. Her favorite country is Somalia, because she likes pirates. Arrrrrr! When you meet her, she prefers if you speak to her in pirate tongue since English is actually her second language. Katherine is part of the Alaskan Sovereignty Party and admires Sarah Palin. She hopes to move to Alaska, primarily because of its proximity to Russia. She also finds furry men attractive.

Kavita Kapadia is the manager of the team and therefore basically manages the team. In her free time, Kavita enjoys reading erotic novels. She is majoring in Dance and concentrating in Belgian step dancing. Her favorite vegetable is the okra, because of its shape and texture; she actually loves everything that has that texture. Kavita wants to become a professional sheep herder, because of her love for everything herds.

Alexia Cesar is the show co-ordinator for the Ballroom team because she loves sparkly outfits. She is half French, half American/Spanish/German with a lovely English accent. Her favorite New Haven hangout is Ivy Noodle which she likes to frequent while cramming for exams. She is a Chemistry major (with a possible double in Economics) and wants to go into either intellectual property law or healthcare investing. She is also on the varsity fencing team - so stay on her good side!

Cyndi Chen, SY ’13, finds it highly ironic that there is nothing Latin about Latin, or rather, Afro-Cuban, dances. It is this persnickety adherence to truth and minutiae that she plans to utilize when helping to organize this year’s Yale Invitational Competition, which will undoubtedly be a success. While not nitpicking at details and correcting Allen’s grammar mistakes, Cyndi plays every IM sport there is, but likes soccer the most. Oh, and her favorite dance is the samba. |
