For post-comp announcements, please visit the archives section. For the next comp, please scroll down below.

"It was the most well organized competition I have ever seen! Everything was on time (except that you changed the order of events once), everything was working properly, there was no confusion, delays or rush anywhere!"

"My partner and I really enjoyed the Comp yesterday, and I wanted to say that everyone I was with was full of positive comments. Everything was well-organized, the Emcee and the On-Deck managers were excellent, and the music was fantastic."

"Hey man, great job running the comp. I'm really impressed with how good a job you did given your constraints. The competition was running on time and I think everyone had a great time."

Prologue to Yale Comp 2008 CS (December 6-7, 2008)

Please mark your calendars for the 17th annual Yale Ballroom Dance Competition, scheduled for Saturday-Sunday, December 6-7, 2008! For information about the last competition, on Saturday, February 2, 2008, please visit the archives section.

Thanks to the success and the overwhelmingly positive feedback from the previous competition, we will be expanding to a two-day competition with additional evening charity ball, honor dances, and showdances. In fact, two of the previous competition's co-coordinators, Jong and Caroleen will spearhead the competition again, for a certain guarantee of competitor satisfaction. The location will again be Wilbur Cross High School, located at 181 Mitchell Dr., New Haven, CT 06511. The location features a new gymnasium, bleacher seating, an additional basketball court as warm-up space, locker rooms, and ample parking. Please refer to the map on the right or click here to view a larger map.

The venue is about two miles from the main Yale University campus, a distance easily covered by foot or by car. The venue is about two and a half miles from the New Haven (Union Station) train station serving the Metro-North Railroad and Amtrak.

Overnight housing will be available for the weekend.

Videotaping will be allowed during all events. A platform behind the judges' table on one of the short walls will be dedicated to videotaping, but it can also be done from the sidelines or bleachers. Official photographers and cinematographers will be on staff to capture all parts of the competition and film final rounds of all events.

Questions, comments, complaints, howls of outrage, and housing requests may be emailed to Yuen-Jong Liu (jong@yaleballroom.org).
